Golden Ticket Collaborations

To bring schools, parents and agencies together on site in your community

Young adults with IDD shouldn’t be destined for a life on the couch.

Does it seem impossible to navigate your way to disabilities waivers?
Is there a lack of communication between your school and outside agencies?
Is there little to no interagency collaboration?
Is it time to celebrate courageous individuals who have made monumental impacts?
Does your community need an inspirational event to come together?

The Barrows Barometer for Special Education offers two types of non-profit community events to support parents with children who have IDD and to celebrate advancements for people with disabilities.

Interagency collaboration is essential for a successful transition to independent adulthood. Yet, district schools and families are often not prepared for when kids with IDD become adults. Parents may get mixed messages about the disability waiver application process, and if there’s no interagency collaboration, it can be a jumbled mess.

Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that way.

The Golden Ticket for IDD Success

Unlocking Opportunities for Families of Children with Disabilities

Families navigating the world of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) often face challenges in accessing the right resources. The Golden Ticket for IDD Success is a transformative event designed to bridge this gap. This engaging and interactive event connects parents with essential Medicaid and disability waiver programs, ensuring a seamless transition to adulthood for their children.

What to Expect:

  • Expert guidance on Medicaid and disability waivers
  • Real-life success stories from families and professionals
  • Step-by-step support to access critical resources
  • Opportunities to connect with local agencies partnered for the event
  • Parenting strategies to foster success in school and adulthood
  • Best practices for IEP planning and creation
  • Understanding what to expect from IEP teams

Beyond connecting families to resources, we also support parents and guardians in analyzing their own parenting strategies and provide practical ideas to help their children thrive academically and transition smoothly into adulthood. Additionally, we provide critical education on IEP (Individualized Education Program) planning, equipping parents with the knowledge and tools they need to effectively advocate for their child’s educational needs. Parents will gain a clearer understanding of what to expect from their IEP teams, ensuring a collaborative and effective process for their child's success.
