Teachers should not be in the dark about how to maximize resources and support for students with IDD.
This two-day professional learning event is designed for Special Education Teacher Leaders to self-assess their district or school program in paving the way to successful adulthood for students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The symbiotic path will be explored by analyzing interagency collaboration through interactive dialogue with colleagues based on nationally recognized standards. Participants will create a plan for improvement based on the strengths and opportunities for growth identified through the assessment of 21 different special education elements which are critical to adult success for students with IDD.
The Golden Ticket Teacher Leader professional learning events are designed for teachers and leaders for students with IDD. We help you to analyze the symbiotic path to adult success for your students with IDD. We help you objectively assess your teaching and your case management. We will celebrate the areas where you are succeeding and highlight areas that are your opportunities for growth. You'll collaborate with Teacher Leader colleagues from different regions of the country in a therapeutic environment. You will learn about and exchange ideas in helping parents navigate the ultra-complex landscape of disability waivers and services. You will also learn the importance of interagency collaboration and how to involve outside agencies in your transition planning. This event also presents a rejuvenating opportunity to get refreshed while reconsidering how you teach and case manage your students with IDD. You will leave with a review, a plan for improvement and a renewed focus for best practices in instruction and case management for students with IDD.
As a result of this two-day professional learning event, the Teacher Leader will be able to:
- Analyze the programming for students with IDD according to nationally recognized standards of best practices in the field of Special Education.
- Describe the areas of strength as well as areas of growth for providing a symbiotic path to successful adulthood for students with IDD in the Administrative Unit (AU) for which they lead.
- Integrate new ideas through collaboration with nationwide colleagues in the area of services and supports for students with IDD as related to nationally recognized standards of best practices.
- Compare their current state of climate, structure and performance for IDD programming to national standards as well as to other administrative units across the country.
- Apply areas of strength and growth to a plan for improvement for supporting students with IDD in their Special Education programs for which they teach and case manage.
